SunButter: Motion and Typography Exploration
There isn’t much to this project, and I think that was the whole point. As much as I love brainstorming, sketching, and revising, sometimes you just need to have fun. That was the key thing I found in the creative brief, and so that’s the direction I took. Albeit the initial ideas were a bit half-baked, when I started trying different ideas I eventually came to some I thought had the perfect balance of fun and funky. Like look at this guy, he’s half sunflower, half solar panel. Know what I called him? Solar flower. It goes off the basis that sunflowers actually absorb power from the sun, making the seeds super powerful and nutritious!
Or how about her? Just a little sun, but I wanted to keep it simple while continuing the language. I wanted to keep the animation playful, bouncy, reminding people of a wonderful beach day.
Every exploration needs a wild card, right? This is the SUN-O-METER. It would basically connect to the Solar Flower, after being charged by the sun, and would show you how much sun was captured. So while it was fun, it all was interconnected in the end.
Moving forward with my fun little campaign I thought it would be cool to call back to the 60’s. We were talking about the power of the sunflower, so it was only fitting!
