I received an exciting call from a friend asking me to come up with a brand identity for a kids’ Christian scout group. I was given the name “Lions of Judah” and then I was off to the races. Here is how it went.

These were the initial ideas. Starting off with hard corners and cutting eyes. As I moved forward I found that adding brows would help create the expression in the face I was looking for: trustworthy and peaceful.

From there, it was a matter of taking the face and giving it a name. I looked through countless typefaces until I stumbled across something that evoked the same expression as the face: trustworthy, peaceful, and adding on a kid-friendly feel.

Now that the identity was complete, it was simply a matter of throwing it onto some t-shirts and giving it out to the kids.
